About
Why FishNet?
The name was chosen by a helpful sub-editor because it seemed to him that it cleverly combined the subject matter, with our seaside location. ;-)
For convenience sake, I have transferred my photo blog and a few other bits and pieces to this location as well. There are some older posts whose illustrations were lost in a move from Blogger to WordPress, and some broken links here and there, which shouldn't affect the overall usability of the Blog much, if at all.

Au revoir FishNet
My last post marked the end of FishNet for the time being, at least. I will soon be on my way to a new land, to join family, and I wouldn’t have been able to keep the column up while … Continue reading
Year of the tablet
One of the most incredible annual phenomena of the technological world is the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It was held this year from 6-9 January and was truly remarkable for the fact that, although open only to the … Continue reading
Go figure !!
There doesn’t seem to be any accounting for taste. This picture is now the second most viewed on my Flickr photostream. There are plenty of my pictures which I feel are much more worthy but, instead, a vintage Coke sign … Continue reading

A new version of one of my favourite free imaging program has just been released. The program, FastStone Image Viewer, has been mentioned in these columns before and is available from the website FastStone.org. I use it every day even … Continue reading
Mobiles & politeness
Most of the time I am very much in favour of technology but I also see its drawbacks. Take mobile phones for example. They have been a blessing in so many ways, allowing you to phone someone in an emergency … Continue reading
Get off of my (Joli) cloud
This is going to be a bit of a weird column, some might say they all are, because I haven’t got anything to write about. Most columnists get to this point sooner or later, and usually plug the gap by … Continue reading
Born for the web
I hope everyone had a full ration of joy and peace over the festive season and that you are all ready for the new year. One of the surprises waiting for me over the festive season was the arrival of … Continue reading
For next years’ list
Christmas is closing in and it is probably too late to do much in the way of shopping in the few hours left before then, so I have made a start on the list for next year. Top of my … Continue reading

Gift shopping made easy – part II
review of some compact cameras, when talking of gifts calculated to make the family shutterbug happy, I mentioned the newly-launched Canon 60D and Nikon D7000. Those two sound like great cameras and aimed at squarely at enthusiasts, with price tags … Continue reading

Festive shopping made easy – part I
Shopping has never been one of my favourite occupations but looking for gifts for myself and others is, I suppose, the least objectionable form of it. Me being me, however, my first move was certainly not to try and find … Continue reading
